Trainer Care

Keeping your trainers looking good and maintaining their lifespan

Sometimes trainers can wear more quickly than expected, here are some common causes of footwear degrading too quickly and how you can prevent this:

1. Do your trainers fit correctly?

If footwear is a bit too big, friction occurs during wear resulting in holes in the lining.  Holes may form in the lining near the heel, around the collar, or near the toe.  Be sure to choose the right size trainer, your heel should sit in the heel counter and there shouldn’t be too much space at the toe, equally they shouldn’t be too tight.

2. Machine washing or drying shoes.

Machine washing trainers loosens the inner lining and generally weakens all materials in the shoe (hence we don’t recommend this).  We give a few tips on how to clean your trainers to get the most out of them below.

3. Stepping on the back of each trainer to take it off without untying or loosening them first.

This causes friction around the collar and the inside of the heel; this stress may also cause the lining to pull away from the upper.  We’re all busy and there’s nothing easier than just pulling off your trainers without unlacing them but trust us, taking a few seconds extra to untie those laces is worth it.

How To Care For Your Gola Trainers Cleaning your trainers will help to keep them in good condition so they’re always looking their best. We would recommend to avoid cleaning your trainers in the washing machine, instead we suggest the following;

PU Trainers

1. Let any dirt dry. If soles are dirty, remove any loose dirt first by tapping the soles of the trainers together.

2. Using a damp cloth soaked in warm soapy water (washing up liquid will do), lightly wipe over the PU to remove any soiling.

3. Let the trainers air dry at room temperature before wearing.

Suede Trainers

When it comes to suede, we believe in prevention over cure, we would highly recommend buying a suede protector spray to keep your trainers looking good.

1. To apply a suede protector spray; make sure the trainers are clean and completely dry and spray the protector spray from a distance, or as per the application directions if different. Leave the sprayed trainers for at least one hour before wearing.

2. If trainers get soiled, let the mud on the trainers dry, then lightly apply the suede brush to the suede areas.

Leather Trainers

1. Make sure the trainers are completely dry.

2.Use a soft brush to remove any excess dirt.

3.Any leftover stains can be removed using a damp cloth. Don’t apply too much pressure as you could damage the leather.

Canvas Trainers

1. We recommend using a damp cloth soaked in warm soapy water (wring out well) to clean canvas trainers.

2. Spot clean canvas upper to remove any marks.

3. Let the trainers air dry at room temperature.
